| installing satellite dish indoor.
Hi guys.
I just bought satellite dish. I want to install it indoor. Is it possible to install myself? or i need professional installer? Can any body tell me about precaution i need in installing/wiring/grounding?
Some other guys in my apartment complex install indoor and get good signal quality too. |

Hi, and WELCOME TO TECHIMO...!
I'm not 100% on this, but ( AFAIK) the dish would need to be able to 'see' the sky. If you wanted you could set it up near a window, for it to point out through.
I personally would prefer it to be outside - no matter how ugly they look, I would prefer it to be outside than in...

i agree, also if your tring to point it out a CLOSED window it my hinder or block your signal (quality bar)
trial an error is best!
as Nude Lewd Man mention, outdoor would be best

It's impossible to receive that kind of signal indoors, unfortunately. |

The other issue here is RF exposure restrictions. I don't know what those limits are for a transmitting satellite dish but I know that a 900MHz wireless internet dish that has a limit of 7 miles must be kept 7 feet away from where anyone will be working. So, unless your up-link will be the phone line, then it would seem that a safe distance would be considerably more than 7 ft to transmit to a stationary satellite 22,00 miles away.
Given federal restrictions, it is unlikely that a service provider or local government would permit customer installations. |

If you are on the right side of the building to see the satellite, you may be okay. The wiring is simple, but you need to be careful with it, as it carries a control voltage to the LNB, not just a normal RF signal. Being in doubt as you are, call a professional. It would be MUCH better to install outside, though.
