ASUS M2N-SLI Delux and Zumax 500w problems.

Last Night after falling asleep on my desk
i woke up to find my Computer had been shut down.
It was on when i was awake and i was home alone so
nobody could have come in and cut it off.
  • My Spec's :
  • Asus M2N-SLI Delux
  • AMD 6400+ X2
  • 2gigs 800 DDR2 Ram
  • 8800 GT 512 Video card.
  • Vista Ultimate.
  • ZUMAX 500w PSU.
Well after i got up i went to hit the power button
and all i got was a Snipit of power from the PSU that
made the L.E.D Lights on it light up as well as spin
the fan's in the computer for 1 second then shut off.

Theres a green light thats constantly on around
the bottom of the Motherboard where the video
cards are and my Ethernet ports are flashing orange/green,
so I'm thinking that its not a problem with the
motherboard ( i really hope thats not it ).

I'm just trying to understand because i built this
computer a year and a half ago and its been
running like a dream up until now.My other computers
PSU's ports are smaller than the one on my Asus mobo
so i cant use them ( i don think ).

I saw a few threads here before i signed up but
they point to a Mobo problem which i don't think i have.

Well I would first have a look at that PSU (never heard of zumax).

You mean PSU.

Ive never heard of them so cannot comment on reliability, But if anything fails to come on (no fans and such) that would be the first place I would look.

Although the motherboard light stays on......

Try this

Well look for the same location. Top row, forth pin from the left with the catch on the top, other end of the paper clip in the 5th hole (to the right of the first).

ok i did the test on the pins with the 4th one from the right with the other end connected to a black pin. What happened was the exact same as before. The Blue L.E.D Lights cut on for a split second along with the PSU fan and the Case fan i had connected to it, then cut off. All other plugs where disconnected from the computer. So i switched the pin around to the one showing in the picture/the youtube video and i got the same response with an added spark.

Switching it around was most likely a bad idea if you followed the vid and the pic I posted you should of got it right first time, still your PSU didnt turn on so whether or not you shorted it I would get a new one.

Well it still starts like it did previously before the small spark. It cuts on then cuts off. I dont think the spark did anything to it.
