upgraded the bios...and the machine froze mid upgrade.
even tho the board has dual bios...and is supposed to recover from such events,
it didn`t..the backup bios did not initialize.

    Welcome to TechIMO

I'm not familiar with the way the Gigabyte duel BIOS works, so I'm assuming that you can't recover with that.

At that point you have 2 choices. If the BIOS chip is the plug in type You can either order a new chip from Gigabyte or order a chip from a third party, like Bios Man.

When this happened with my Abit board, I had the chip in 2 days from Abit.

Bios Man will program a new chip or your old one to any BIOS you ask for or you can send them a BIOS on a floppy or CD.

:: BIOSMAN Inc :: Flash Utility : BIOS Flash : BIOS software: BIOS utilities : flash procedure

There are other BIOS sights out there also.

If the BIOS is soldered in, then it has to be un-soldered and re-soldered of course, making it a lot harder.

Hope this helps, I would contact Gigabyte first, to see if a recovery can still be made, if not check on a new chip.

apparently it is supposed to be impossible to brick a motherboard with dual bios..the backup bios automatically gets triggered at the first sign of corruption and overwrites the main bios, except in my case.

will contact gigabyte and see what they suggest too.

clearly regardless of whither i was doing a bios upgrade or not, this is a motherboard fault...the dual bios failed to restore the bios(as it is designed too).this is a feature gigabyte advertise everywhere.

i will let you know what reply i get from gigabyte on this.

The back up BIOS is supposed to take over on the next system reboot and copy the BIOS file to the main BIOS.

Try clearing the CMOS and then reboot.

cleared bios a number of times..not happening.

and as for the reboot that would be awesome if it posted.
clearly i don`t see any options,if the backup bios is faulty and doesn`t function as designed, then this mb is a brick.
i can get it to bleep if i remove the ram.
but nothing i`ve tried will get it to post(stripped down to cpu and ram plus the on board graphics).
