| internet connection is breaking
Hi all,
I am having this problem for a while now and I dont have any more ideas.
I am connected via a Netgear router to the net.
occasionally, when surfing or downloading stuff, it seems that the connection is down. when I check the router status, it seems that I am connected, but the computer is not.
Any ideas?
XP SP2
Netgear WNR834B
Thanks in advance

It could be a network card about to die. Mine did that.

I am not sure this is the case, since all computers connected to the router are loosign connectionat the same time while the router shows connected status |

Are all the clients wireless or do you have any that is plugged directly into the router? Do you have the latest firmware installed on the router? |

And the computer that is directly connected to the router has problems with the connection dropping? |

Have you tried plugging in a single computer into the modem and seeing if the internet ever drops?
Have you rebooted the router? |

thanks for keeping up with that.
Yes, I have been trying plugging the computer into the modem - it looks like the connection does not break.
so, it seems the problem is with the router - I did reboot it, but it keeps doing the same.
I also bought a new router recently, since I originally thought it was the router and now I get the same problem. |

Do you have DSL? If so do you have keep alive enabled on the router? |
