ummm . . . new member here . . . landed here while researching
"flatbed disassembly procedures". exact post was :
i am using a
visioneer 8100 flatbed scanner. the installation manual has one sentence about maintenance . . .
"wipe off top of glass with lint-free soft cloth". nothing else.
i have googled this a bit on the internet . . . no solid hits.
the issue is . . . yes, the scanner is a bit old . . . and dust / film has accumulated underneath the glass.
there are no screws under the unit. i took two of the foot-pads off (no screws underneath also). the document cover not only flips up but slides completely off, if the media i am scanning is too large to fit underneath the cover. those two brackets also have no screws.
the glass does not seem to be just "floating" either.
there is, what appears, to be a bottom-half of the whole case and a top-half as well. where they join, there is a definite separation. using the blade of a thin screwdriver, the two halves separate a bit more . . . but seems to bind. actually, i am afraid of cracking the glass, or worse, breaking the armature of the scanner assembly.
anyone here wanna' offer their two cents worth ?
thanks for everyone's time . . . good day.
