The sound from my computer has been acting up alot lately. It works when i turn on my computer but starts to mess up as i use it. Especially when playing itunes. It cuts in and out, making an almost "ripping sound" (Kinda like tv static, very sharp sound). Sometimes it cuts out to the point where i have to restart my whole computer to get it back. Its been going on for about a month now and i'm starting to get annoyed. And ideas?

What brand and model is the sound card? Have you updated to the latest drivers for the card, plus the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset (if applicable)?

I have a Creative SB X-Fi. The brand is creative i believe. And when im in device manager i right click it and select update driver software. It says its up to date.
How do you have the X-Fi set to run? In Entertainment mode, Game mode, or Audio Creation mode?
Go to Control Panel, then Audio Control Panel to check. While in there, make sure Crystalization is unchecked.
