When powered up the PS and CPU fans spin, I hear the hard drive spin, the DVD drive has power and ejects if the button's pressed, but I don't get any video. I figure it has to be the board, the cpu or the ram. I tested the ram on another PC and it was ok, and tested it's on the PC in question(same thing). I thought the mobo didn't support the CPU as it wasn't listed on their site so I swapped for a different mobo that does list it and same thing.
Do you think it's the cpu? Or is the ram not compatible with either of the boards I tried but is on the one I tested with? Or what? I'll check if the video can be turned off on the board...
Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300 2.8Ghz 1066mhz
ECS G31T-M
2x 2gb OCZ DDR2 800
430watt psu

Did you plug in the all the power leads necessary for the motherboard? Mine needed a 20 pin and a 4 pin.

Well the board supports all core 2 duo cpus so that shouldn't be an issue. When you say you tested the chip in another board and it did the "same thing" do you mean it didn't boot or?? That was a bit confusing.
Make sure you have the 20+4 pin connections made as well as the extra 4 pin connection. Clear the cmos and double check the jumpers. If that doesn't work strip it down to the bare essentials. If you still get no boot pull it out of the case and test it on a book or box.

If it did the same thing on a different motherboard, I'd be inclined to think it's possibly a grounding issue (which the build outside of the case would tell ya) or maybe even a possible DOA PSU. I've had a PSU do the same thing to me.
I'm gonna guess you got the Thermaltake 430w TR2 PSU? |

No, the PSU's a Rosewill Green Series, which i must say is pretty silent, but I'd think that if it was that then the CPU fan would not spin? But I'm going to test it out of the case right now.
To clarify, I swapped ram with a working machine. The working one continued to work, and the non-working one continued not working.
I have not swapped the CPU, and I'm not able to because the working system isn't mine, so hopefully this can be done partially blind. |

This happened to me twice. Once it was a bad memory module. The other time I forgot to plug the right 4 pin power lead into the MB. It also could be a grounding problem where the motherboard is encountering the case. Sometimes you might have a post on the case that doesn't line up with a hole. |

Yep, I'm glad to find that in addition to the 20+4, there's another +4 plug on the board. I thought it was outgoing power for a System Fan, but I plugged power into it and all seems to be working! Thanks. |

Oh those pesky little extra connections that we all forget from time to time! |
