Stoopid XP question - service packs

Fella just donated a computer with original XP on it.. no service packs installed.

It is necessary to D/L and install the SP's in order or can I just throw SP3 on it and be ready to put it online?

Thanks... sorry to be a dunce.

Windows XP SP3 can typically be installed without previous SPs. Luckily it is not like back in the earlier days of NT when you generally had to install SPs in order.
