Lines on Laptop Screen
Red, blue and green thin lines, top to bottom, have gradually appeared and remained on the screen of my 30-month-old IBM ThinkPad R52 Notebook-Centrino, can you please indicate possible cause and whether this is a common problem with laptops, is repair possible and at what estimated cost.

Hi, and WELCOME TO TECHIMO - from the Folding@Home Team (#111)...!
This is something that happens with quite a few LCD-type displays - regardless of whether it is a laptop's screen or a PC's monitor...
Unfortunately, it isn't something that you can repair (certainly not at home) so your best option would be to get it sent back to the manufacturer for the screen to be repaired/replaced by them.
If you have any warrantee for it, you might find it only costs whatever the postage costs are - otherwise it could be a few Maltese Lira... If you are able to source another screen you can swap it over with your one (I've done this at work) but it can be somewhat fiddley...
Let us know how it goes....
