Without any further (useful) information, this is difficult to pin down to a specific issue.
Having said that I would hazard a guess that the display of the telly has started to fail. Depending on the age of the device (and whether it is within the guarantee/warrantee period) it would prolly be best to suggest that you get in touch with the manufacturers for a repair/replacement...
