no hdd

i go to start my laptop and it comes up with:
PXE-E61 : Media test failure. check cable
PXE-M0F : Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating System not found.
So i went in and checked the bios and it says there is no hdd, i took the hdd out and put it in another laptop and same thing comes up. When i try to reinstall windows using a recovery disk it says hdd not initalisd do u wish to initialise it i click yes then it goes error press ok to turn off comp. took it to a computer shop they said it cant be fixed which is fine i guess. What im trying to do now is get files of it is there a program i can use through the cd drive or usb drive that will get me some of the files back. thanks in advance

If its dead, it's dead. No data recovery.

Sorry, there is no program to get files from a dead drive. However, there are plenty of companies willing to do it for a fee.
