recently purchased dell latitude c600 laptop
I just purchased a dell laptop off of ebay. When I turn it on, the computer gives me the message "no bootable devices strike f1 to retry or f2 for setup utility". I'm technologically challenged, but does this mean that I need to load the Windows software?

Hi gottaquestion. Welcome to TechIMO.
That message could mean one of several things:
1. Windows needs to be laoded
2. There is no hard drive
3. The hard drive is bad
4. A loose connection at the hard drive
Boot it up and press F2 for set up utility and see if a hard drive is detected."Retreat, hell! We just got here."

It could also mean the hard drive is not partitioned, and I think you get that message if it is not formatted also
Edit: never mind
I take it back, I just checked and no partition gets a different 3 part message.
No format gets no message on the old dell I tried.Last edited by stroyal; August 28th, 2009 at 06:00 PM.
