dell dimesion 5000 series wont power up

hi my father in law just bought his computer round, it is a dell dimension 5000 series
which wont power up, when you press the power button all the led on the button does is flash orange instead of showing up blue, there is no post screen or anything on the display at all,
is the MOBO dead or is it something simple, i do suspect dead mobo but any other ideas would be most appreciated

its ok i appear to be having a brain malfunction
forgot to try the power supply, which i have now done and it works
so forgive my retardedness lol
