Dell inspiron 5000 laptop

I bought a dell inspiron 5000 at an auction. no charger. Need to know the polarity of the pins in the charging jack. There is 3 pins in like a triangle shape on the side. If I can rig a charger to see if it works or even powers up. Thanks.

When you say charger - do you really mean AC Power Adapter like the following:

On the side of the computer is a charging port. 3 terminals in like a triangle. I would like to know which is which. The polarity. I tried looking on-line but can't find a wiring schematic.I don't have the original charger. Don't know if computer works or not. Don't have money to waste. If I new polarity I could rig a make shift charger. Thanks.

Hi,
I have a 5000e charger and the charger pins (I tested ) shows pin 1 (top of triangle position) as negative (-) and pin 3 positive (+), pin 2 looks like unused (no connections).

By the way are there anyone interested in a Dell Inspiron 5000e (PIII 850Mhz/ 512Mb ram), with charger, CD R/RW drive, some PCMCIA cards (10/100 network, 1394, usb+1394, etc.) and extra battery?
