I deleted all of my cookies last evening and ran Ad Aware as I have plenty of times. I even played a Medal Of Honor, I powered down my computer and woke up today to a clean desktop? All of my files and such are still on my PC Windows XP rearanged my main accounts like they are the Guest Acct. All of my settings were wiped clean but as I said all of the data is stil on the HD. Is there anyway to revert this back to the days of old without doing a system restore? |

Greetings. I know of no other way to restore your system and settings other than Restore.
When you say you cleaned out your cookies, did you also delete the contents of Windows Temp directory? Not the InternetTemp, but the Temp... I believe the settings you are speaking of are stored there. I could be mistaken, but I had a similar issue after deleting those files. Just a heads up.
Good Luck with your Dilemna. |

No, I did not delete any of the temp folders or anything else out of the ordinary for that matter. Maybe I just ought to take the time to learn another platform and delete windows. Basically I figured out that the only way to really restore is move the folders back to where I had them, basically reconfigure my whole frigging PC again. I could see if this happenned after a defrag but just out of the blue after a shutdown....................weird! |

heyal,
If you don't want to use system restore you can always get Easy Recovery or Data Recovery software that will give you a choice of what to recover file, directory etc.
Good Luck,
Southern Belle
