SATA vs IDE, not really any difference, IDE burners don't max out an IDE aka PATA connection anyways, main advantage is smaller cables, more flexible cable also for SATA. Downside, unlike PATA you can only plug one drive into SATA, where as PATA you could have 2 IDE drives on one port.
slim DVD burners are designed for laptops, slim External drive kits, small form factor systems (Micro ATX, Flex ATX, Mini ITX type platforms), but yes, if a case has a bay for a slim drive, or you can get a conversion kit for it to fit in a normal 5.25" bay (most likely would have to custom make your own front panel to fit it in). you can use them in a desktop PC, but the down side is they are much more expensive in general than their fullsize counterparts.
unless your building a specialty small form factor system, some sort of special custom modified PC, or upgrading a laptop, forget about the slim drives and just grab a regular full size one, which ever is cheaper SATA or PATA, or if you value having smaller cables that take up less room, increase airflow in case, are more flexible for cable management and you have a spare SATA port to use, then grab a SATA drive.

Im afraid not no, the 4200 is a little better.
As to the Ram the board supports 1066/1333 (and 1666 if you overclock it). So the stuff you have now will work fine. |
