I'd say for some reason, probably the drop, your your hard drive with the operating system is not working.
Check for loose connections, then download the hard drive manufacturers test disk.
As a quick check on the rest of the computer, try any BOOT floppy or CD and see if it will BOOT.

Checking the inside of a laptop is no picnic, even if you are not new.
It's pretty hard to test without another boot able device. Can you get into the BIOS?
Can you borrow a USB floppy or CD, and will your BIOS let you BOOT from a USB device.
I'm pretty sure your hard drive is dead from the drop. |

If it is a USB floppy or CD you don't have to make your own disk.
Any boot disk will work ie. win 98 boot disk, Your XP installation CD.
The test disk that can be down loaded from your hard drive manufacturer is also a boot disc, floppy or CD. |

The, "No Bootable Device" says it all.
Does the BIOS tell you what brand hard drive you have?
