hey people, I have my computer running 4 operating systems, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. Does configurations like this normally slow your system down? Yes they are all legal, and 7 is on a 90 day trial. is there any suggestions I could get about keeping a configuration like this optimal? |

| Nope. It shouldn't.
Are you in tech support and need all four OS?
If not - can you go a few years at a time and never need Win2k?

Well, Steve, I am not in tech support. I get a real kick out of having 4 generations of Windows on my machine, I actually have a terabyte SATA RAID drive that I install all of my applications and games to, so it really never matters. The pain in the butt is, that I cannot update them all at the same time. It wont slow anything down? Well that is good to know, I tell you, it was tricky to set up all of the OSs in the boot manager. |

Food for thought...Look in to VirtualPC and run it and ALL OS's from within Win 7. |

I have Virtual PC, it is entertaining to run 98 in it, but I am running a lowsy Celeron 340 with 2 GB of RAM and an 8400GS GPU. I like to play games, RTCW runs lightning fast in 2000 on this system. Much better than Vista, and even XP. I cannot run 7 and get the benefits from using Virtual PC for uses such as those. |

I've got a rig that has a triple boot (same as OP, but without W2k) and it doesn't/didn't make any difference to the speed of anything...
The reason I say that it does/did is that it is currently offline due to a MoBo and/or CPU problem, and I haven't had the time to get that fixed - but otherwise it was perfectly fine when it was running.... I even had all of the OSs running Folding@Home on them too, which puts a bit of a strain on the CPU, whenever they were running......
