I've got an hp DV6500 running Vista. While trying to free up some space, the boot manager was apparently compressed, which resulted in a "boot mgr compressed, pres ctrl-alt-del" screen to pop up when I started the comp. I think I was able to fix that by entering a command on command prompt ("fixbootmgr" or something like that), but now when the comp starts up, it almost gets to Windows but then a blue screen flashes on for a couple of seconds and the Recovery Manager starts. No matter what I do from that point on, I can't get that loop to stop. I've tried going through the Recovery Manager to completion, but when the comp restarts it does the same things again.
Thanks very very much for any help you can give me here.
