Marcia's computer has become unable to print to any printer. If I try, say, to print a test page on her HP 1020, I get the error message shown below. I've copied over the spoolsv.exe file from her latest service pack's i386 folder, but the situation is unchanged.
Any hints?

Does the Windows Task Manager show spoolsv.exe running under the Processes tab? |

Do you have any process or startup management tools in use? Is something disabling the process from loading? Can you try to run the executable spoolsv.exe file? |

I'm not home right now; but if any of those had been running, they'd have been running two days or so ago when this happened. I have tried going into administrative tools/services/print spooler, and it says it's started. But obviously it's not. |

Have you tried going into services.msc (or right-click "My Computer"/"Computer") and restarting the 'Print Spooler' service..?

What printer do you have? Have you looking in the event viewer for a detail message on the error? I would reboot the machine, then look at the event log to see where its failing |

The printer on Marcia's machine is an HP Laserjet 1020, but printing fails with all printers, including the networked ones. And you can't delete the printer.
What "event log"? |
