    My computer won't boot

Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 9200, windows xp.

It won't boot. First time I started it today I got to the user login screen, then the screen turned black, but the computer was still 'running'.

I restarted the pc, the Diagnostic lights 3 and 4 is solid green, and beep code 1-3-2, Nothing shows up on the screen. Yellow light inside the computer. So I assume something is wrong with the memory?

My computer is pretty old, and have been unstable for a while, so I don't really care for the computer, but i have 10GB of pictures there i must have.. Is there any way of getting these pictures back? Anything I can do myself?

    Thanks for your time

(Yesterday I had collected all the pictures in one folder, and was about to copy them to my external hard drive, but I couldn't find the USB cable, so I decided to put it off till today.. Bad move..lol)

    Hi Lilith. Welcome to TechIMO.

You can slave your hard drive to another pc and access your pictures then move them to your external hard drive.

You could install the hard drive as a slave in another computer, or if your external is the same size, you might be able to use that.

    Thanks for the fast replies.

I've never slaved a hard drive before, how hard is it? Is there any good guides?

This will show you how to slave a PATA drive:

Hard Drive Recovery Tutorial - How To Slave A Hard Drive

If you have a SATA drive this will help:

    Add a Second Hard Drive

The second link shows the difference betweem SATA and PATA (aka IDE) drive.
