    DVD Ripping Software to avi, mpeg etc

     
    I am interested in ripping my home movie dvd's back to a hard drive to back up and also watch at a later time. I have tried several freeware software solutions with no success.

    Two open source projects of potential interest:

    DVDx | Get DVDx at SourceForge.net

    HandBrake

    If backing up encrypted DVDs, you will likely need a third-party intermediate utility. Drop a Google search, as that is beyond the scope of TIMO.
