I REALLY suggest you reconsider ANY money spent on that old of a platform...
unless you can find a very cheap upgrade from Craigslist, its just not worth sinking money into...
Since it still does work, I would pull the mobo, CPU and memory, (and video card if its AGP) and sell as a combo on Craigslist and put that toward a new setup...
You can find VERY cheap current gen hardware that will easily surpass any upgrade you could do to that and still be upgradeable.
    Figure it this way...
You havent had any serious issues with is machine yet, however when you go and upgrade parts you have to take things apart and work on them, leaving you open to any number of problems that can occur, now youve spent money on an upgrade and you may find you have issues with it once youve upgraded...
Now youve wasted money that could have been spent on new parts that can be returned or RMAed... With components that old its just a matter of time before you have failure
The realistic average lifespan of most electronics is 3-5 years...
Your already living on borrowed time...

It will cost you more to upgrade it than to build a new machine. Old chips cost more.
