Unwanted Spam Text Messages from Windows Live
I'm hoping you can help!
The problem
: I am currently receiving unwanted spam text messages on my cell phone from Windows Live. I have received 32 in the past two days, beginning at 3am yesterday.
The messages read:
FRM: WindowsLive
MSG: [Hotmail}
The body of the message then contains some type of advertisement/alert (they all vary).
The phone number the messages are sent from is 1-410-000-001 (for the first message). The second message came from 1-410-000-002; and so forth, to the most recent, 1-410-000-032.
I do not have a Windows Live account and did not sign up for spam text messages.
I've tried to contact MSN several ways but they are unable/unwilling to help. AT&T is also unable to help.

Anyone that has you phone number could be doing this
(kind of maybe)
If getting a different phone number isn't an option - call AT&T back and ask them for assistance in blocking the phone number. Do you know anyone in Maryland (410 area code) ?Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...

Thanks for the advice. I don't know anyone in Maryland. Unfortunately, I think blocking the number would be hard b/c it changes with each message.

Unwanted Texts
I have the exact same problem as JJ12345. Keep getting the exact same messages:
The messages read:
FRM: WindowsLive
MSG: [Hotmail}
AT&T is unable to help.

Unwanted Texts
It started yesterday! All night long my phone kept sending messages and kept waking me up

I tried replying STOP and Unsubscribe and nothing help! I called AT&T and they told me it's not a "real" number so they can't block it. I went to Windows Live for help, but found nothing!
Let me know if you find a way for it to stop!

How to Fix This
I think I figured out what is going on - I've been getting tons of these messages as well in the past few days. From what I was able to pin point, they are spam messages sent to yourphonenumber@txt.att.net. You can block text messages coming to your phone this way by going to mymessages.wireless.att.com . I had to register (your normal account login won't work), but since I did this, I have not received any of these messages. Hope this helps some of you.

Since I signed up for My Messages and put a block on the number, I have not gotten any more messages!
In the space where you can block numbers, I put 1-410-000-XXX and that seemed to work!
Thanks to all of you for your help

I don't know whether or not using 1-410-xxx-xxx will work. Give it a try and let us know.
Here is what I've done in order not to receive these messages:
1 - went to Log In and registered my cell phone number through their sign up process.
2 - Go to Preferences-->Blocking Options and checked these two boxes "Block all text messages sent to you as email" and "Block all multimedia messages sent to you as email". I then selected "Block" from the drop down menu for "Mobile Number Control." I don't have any thing in the "Allow" or "Block" boxes.
That's it. They only problem with this option is you won't get text messages sent to your phone by e-mail from anyone, unless you add them to the "Allow" list. I don't use this service, so it isn't a problem for me, but if you do, then one option is to leave to two boxes in step 2 unchecked, but keep the drop down menu as blocked. Then, go to Preferences-->Message Options and set up and alias. This will basically give you and e-mail address that will send text messages to your phone. You can then give this to your friends or whoever as the way to send you texts rather than YOURPHONENUMBER@txt.att.net.

BLOCK
Text messages sent via email can also be blocked directly from your handset. When you receive an email that you wish to block, simply reply to the email with the word "block" in the body of your message. The sender's email address will be added to your Block List. Note: this does not apply for mobile-to-mobile text messages.

Got an answer from AT&T tech support about spam txt messages
I have talked to a tech rep from AT&T and he told me to text:
A off
just as shown, to one of the numbers and wait an hour to see what happens.
so far it has worked for me but will try what was suggested in the previous posts if happens again.

Windows Live 410 text messages
I just set up a hotmail account for my husband and answered one wrong question that
apparently notifies you of every email sent to your hotmail account! That is money down the drain for us as I pay per text, ugh! Try this: visit sms.live.com and change your settings - unmark the notification on hotmail. Good luck.
