Nexstar cx not detected, please help!

Hello. Thanks for coming onto this page, I am at my wits end and have no idea what to do.

Last night, I was transferring and deleting some items on my USB external hard drive, however that night, everything was running slower than usual. It would take forever for one file to load. The transfer or deletion of any item would cause the cause the laptop to hang and the file transfer/ deletion windows would become unresponsive. And it couldnt find some of the files I wanted to delete.

Seeing as my whole system was at a stand still, I disconnected my hard drive. But when I reconnect it to my laptop, it cant be detected at all!! It hums for 2 minutes and the light comes on at the moment of reconnection but its dies straight after. I've tried using my sister's laptop but it isn't recognized either. I have tried other USBs on the port with success, so its definitely a hard drive problem.

I tried searching for it under device manager but it comes out with nothing. Is there any hope at all of getting back any of my hard drive data?

I am using a Nexstar cx and my laptop is a Toshiba from 3 years ago.

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Whoops, sorry I am not very familiar with technology.....I read the box and it says "hard drive not included"?? Which confuses me cause I've been storing things on here for nearly a year O_O was I meant to buy a hard drive? Does this mean its totally broken? I am so confused.....I did a bit of surfing and found the official webpage for the device, all info is on there i hope . I don't have a clue where you have been storing files, as this unit is Only an Enclosure

Without a Hard Drive installed inside, it's basically an empty box.
