I have a problem with my DVD-Rom. It will play full discs, but when I put a blank disc I get this error message: E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function. Can you tell me how to solve this? I need to make some backup discs and I can't do it at the moment. Hope you can help. Thanks

It is most likely 1 or 2 things, the burn part of the DVD is bad, or the media is bad.

Try different known good media, and if that is still doesn't work, I would suspect the drive.

What is the model of the DVD-ROM? Are you sure it can burn cds?

It's a Philips DVDR1628P1. I have burned things before - even TV episodes. Also backed up pictures, music etc. I am using memorex CD_R, which worked before, and I tried memorex DVD-R also. Neither will work if blank. I live in the UK. Thanks Elaine

Memorex has always been low quality, made by Ritek.

You can try reinstalling, your burning software, but I very much doubt, that is the problem.

99% of the time, it is either the media, or the burner itself.

Are you trying to Format the disc? If so, AFAIK that won't work with a blank CD/DVD
