What Happens to BIOS UPGRADE in RE-FORMAT and "Clean Install"?

Does it stay on firmware of CMOS ?

Does the BIOS need to be Upgraded again--and maybe an older CPU put back on Mobo to allow it ?

Can it be saved on bootdisc ?

Like iif I have a mobo with a BIOS that allegedly needs to be upgraded in order to support a AMD XP, and I fe-format (FDisk) to do a clean install of another OS, will I have to go back to the T'Bird supported by old BIOS to upgrade to New Bios suppoerting the XP?

Yes, some have been successful in using an XP to upgrade a T'Bird Mobo--but as a Newbie , I kinda of lean toward doing "by the book" 'cause if I get into trouble, won't have the experience to pull me out of jams.

nope, once you flash the bios, it will stay there until you flash it again.

no need to put old equipment. fdisk format and clean install only affect the hard drive

Heh, not trying to be sarcastic,
but it would be cool to format your bios and install some other in place Like if you had phoenixnet etc...

fdisk tampers with the hard disk, the bios is a seperate chip. That is why when a flash goes wrong you need to reprogram the chip manually or replace it. In short they are two sperate entities and once flashed a bios cannot be changed unless flashed again
