Win Media Player interferes with game while disk changing

I'm not sure where to post this question.

I'm playing Zork Nemesis (older adventure game). It's running fine until I get to the point where I have to change disks. As soon as I load the new disk, Windows Media Player pops up on the screen, and the game crashes. It's making me cranky! What can I do about this? Any ideas? I'm using XP HE. TIA

I remember that game. I still haven't gotten around to finishing it. Anyways, what about disabling auto insert/auto play, or something like that?

Definitely disable auto-play. This is the culprit.

Disabling auto-play should solve this hopefully as it won't try to sutomaticly try to play and file fron autoplay .ini

Thanks Chiguy and Jkrohn! That did take care of the problem. I don't play music or movies on my computer, so I'm not used to dealing with Media Player. What still confuses me is the fact that this issue did not arise when I put in the first disk--only when I was going from the first to the second.

Or you can just hold down Shift to temporarily disable it (hold down while you insert the cd tray)
