| Problem while installing Turtle Beach Santa cruz sound card
Hi,
Well I got my turtle beach santa cruz sound card today in the mail. I put it in the PCI slot fine. I go into Windows XP. it says it has found new hardware and then searches for drivers. it finds them on the OEM disk I got with the card. but everytime It goes to install it, it says
An error occured during the installation of this device.
The data is corrupt.
So i go and try to download the drivers. I do and get the same error. Also they dont install when xp uses it default drivers for it.
I had onboard sound but I disabled it in the BIOS, and no longer have it. It is no longer in device manager.
In device manager I have an error next to Multimedia audio controller and it says no driver installed. But I cant install my driver for it
Why can't I get these drivers installed.
Windows xp pro
ak75-ec motherboard
1.4 t-bird
640mb ram
geforce 3
I am stumped here.
Thanks |

I don't know how much this will help, but I'll give it a whirl.
I have the Santa Cruz card also. When XP comes up with the screen about were to find drivers, just cancel that. Then install the drivers from the Santa Cruz disc. "Santa Cruz Driver Setup"
That is all i have done the 3 times I have installed XP and never ran into a problem. Do you have cable or dsl? I have cable and when I deleted the drivers for my G3 Ti200 card once to install a different driver, XP auto d-loaded the drivers since my cable modem was active. Now when I install new hardware, i hit standby on my cable modem.

Did you read the "read-me" in the zip file? It says:
WINDOWS XP
1. Install the Santa Cruz card in the PC.
2. Connect your powered speakers, microphone, and any other audio peripherals to the appropriate inputs and outputs on the Santa Cruz.
3. Turn on your PC. When Windows has booted for the first time after installing the Santa Cruz hardware in your computer, Windows will report new hardware found. This message box may appear as: 'Sound Fusion' 'Turtle Beach Santa Cruz' or 'Multimedia Audio Controller' select the cancel button on the "New Hardware Found" window to close and return to the Windows desktop.
NOTE:
You must click on Cancel at this screen to properly install the Santa Cruz.
4. Launch the TBSCruz4161s.exe from where it was saved on your system.
5. Follow the instructions that appear during the install, selecting the options that best match your audio setup.
6. When the installation is complete click 'Finish'. The Santa Cruz will be ready for use.

Oh I am sorry,
I am on Cable,
Also when I though I could try and update it with just the driver file. But both files from the cd and the one I downloaded it says data is corrupt.
However when I installed the drivers no i just unplug my cabke out of the HUB. So that isnt an issue.
hell i think I may just re-install XP |

F/A-18 MechDood-
Yup. You get the control panel with all the settings when using that method to install the drivers.
