My compaq laptop is hinge out of place

I'm using a Compaq Presario CQ50, long story short I dropped it about a year ago and now my hinge is out of place. My screen stays up just fine, but when I open it a piece of the hinge pushes up the bevel(?) or when I close it the top is uneven (when you close the laptop usually the screen would cover the whole bottom, but on mine because of the hinge it's slanted and I can see a bit of the bottom part of my laptop). I'm pretty sure the piece thats pushing things out of place is supposed to be screwed down, but it isn't. To get it screwed back down I'd have to remove the screen (it gets in the way) to get in place and remove the bevel to screw it down. I have no idea how to remove any of these things and I don't want to make things worse by trying to fix it.
