so is that one the one you had, or the wrong one you bought?

With out any more info on your PC's specs, size of your case, power supply specs, etc, no one can really suggest anything to replace the old one yet.

HP Pavilion a350n Desktop PC Product Specifications - c00041542 - HP Business Support Center

That your PC?

If so, your going to want to update the Power supply along with the Video card.

You'll be limited to an AGP Slot video card as well, which are hard to find, and will cost much more than a PCI EXpress slot variant.

Basically your looking at paying more than you would for a newer system for the upgrades due to the systems age.

Price wise these are the best cards I can suggest: Newegg.com - HIS H465F1GHA Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit DDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card

PSU: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W ATX12V V2.31 Power Supply

You'll be looking at over $100 for the upgrades, but its the best you can do for the age.

Aside from looking up Used cards on Craigslist or Ebay.

PSU though I would buy new and replace, rather than used, to support the card and not overtax the existing PSU and fry the system.

Even a Radeon 3650 or 3850 In AGP 8x Flavor would be a suitable Upgrade. if you can find one of those.

If you stumble upon a Radeon 4670 in AGP, THAT is the card I'd get, its similar to the 3850 in performance, and runs at lower power from what I remember, plus should be a shorter length card.

and the 4670 was the LAST AGP card made for AGP Slots, after that, no more AGP gaming cards were made. Nvidia Stopped AGP cards with the Geforce 8 series that predated the 4670 by 2 generations already.
