    satellite dish

after a rain and wind storm, the local channels are searching for satellite signals after three days (while all the other channels are fine) and the test reads error with tuner - what needs to be checked and where is it located

If it's like Dish you can pull the card out of the box, wait a few seconds and reinsert the card, (looks like a credit card) it will rebuild from scratch.

I think your dish got knocked out of alignment. You'll need to go somewhere in the menu's and have someone move it while watching the dish "aiming indicators" on the screen.

I had to do it once, but it takes two people. One to watch the TV, one to move the dish.

An old friend, that used to have TV business, used an 8" TV when he was mounting an antennae.

He would run an extension cord up to the roof, and walk around, with the new antenna, and the TV, until, he found the best spot.

Of course, this was in the old days.

True, but he worked alone, and walkie talkies, were very expensive, in 1969.

It was not a suggestion, just a story.

    Edit
You also needed a license for, walkie talkies, back then.

Some Satellite Systems use different frequencies for the local channels, and since you mention the storm, could be the Tuner took a Static Electricity overload. Find a friend who has the same setup and swap boxes to check.

If the box works OK then a re-alignment is in order... I suggest hiring a pro for that, but if you are determined to do it yourself, a pair of cellphones will make the job much easier.
