volume on laptop
I am a little hard of hearing but wear a hearing aid. Even then when my volume control is at 100 it still seems hard to hear. There is a button on the right top of my laptop by the numbers area and it shows a sound plus sign but when I use it nothing happens. Is there a free download for people who are on fixed incomes and can't afford to buy it, that will help enhance the sound.

What are you listening to on the computer? If it's audio or videos and you're using Windows Media Player, there are alternate programs you can use that will boost the sound volume. If it's something else, I don't know...

Is the sound plus sign blue, or a different color, from most of the letters, and numbers?
If it is, you have to press it with the FN key.

Have you tried a set of headphones? I know you stated you wear a hearing aid, but for 8 bucks, it may help...◄ it is what it is ►
