Samsung TV turns off after 2 minutes
My Nan has a Samsung TV just over a year old (model: LE40D550). Since the digital switchover it keeps turning off after around 2 minutes. The only way ive found to stop this is to retune the telly everytime it's switched on but at 92 this something my Nan can do herself.
The problem only began last week when the analogue signal was turned off in our area and we retuned her TV. The next day it was turning off every two minutes. I've turned off the energy saving options and made sure there is no sleep timer or something to that affect and there's nothing. A retune solved the problem for that day but after the tv is switched off and on again the problem persists with only a complete retune stopping it switching off.
I'm desperate to find a resolution to the problem and avoid a costly repair for my Nan.
Any ideas welcomed, thank you in advance.

I have exactly the same issue with a samsung UE32D5000 since the re-tune. It will switch itself off after 2-3 mins unless i completely re tune the TV every time i switch it on.
Very strange. I aim to call samsung and explain this.

samsung tv turnsoff after 2minutes
Interesting - where is your Nan based? We have exactly the same issue in Southampton with a Samsung 32D 3 months old, connected to the external aerial. Worked great until last week when it turns off after 3 minutes - as you say a retune works fine until the tv is turned off and then it starts allover again. Didyou get any responses?

My Nan is in Southampton! *I managed to speak to someone at Samsung yesterday who didn't seem surprised by the issue and has given me some steps which they say should fix it. *I must stress I haven't tried this yet as the retailer where my Nan got her TV has taken pity and are replacing it, but if the new TV presents the same issue I will be doing this later on the the week. *They have suggested the following:*
1) Turn TV off at power source and unplug aerial
2) Turn TV on without aerial and leave for 1-2 minutes
3) Then with aerial still disconnected retune telly - you obviously will not find any channels.
4) Download Firmware update for your model from the Samsung support website. *This needs to be downloaded to an empty USB stick.
5) Connect USB stick to TV. USB port should be on back or side of TV
6) Upgrade Firmware to TV. *From menu, select Support, the Sotfware Upgrade -> USB -> Update
7) Once the update had complete reset the TV. *To do this hold the Exit button on the remote for 30 secs. *When asked if you wish to reset all settings say OK. *The TV will power off.
8) Whilst off, connect aerial
9) Turn TV on
10) Set TV up as you did 1st time.
I have a feeling that if TV is connected to Internet too you have to disconnect and reconnect the Internet connection at the same time as the aerial.
Samsung have said that doing this will not affect the warranty and if it doesn't work they will escalate issue on case by case basis.
The contact number I found worked for them is 01932 454358.
Good luck... If I have to try this myself I'll update.

OK i have followed the instructions to the letter and fingers crossed the TV has stayed on now. I have switched on and off a couple of times and it seems to have solved this issue. I am in Verwood BTW not far from Southampton but i'm not sure why it would be location specific.
Cheers

Samsung firmware
The problem is simply caused by a fault in the firmware coding that seems unable to cope with the loss of analogue settings in the memory. Firmware upgrades seem to fix the problem. Samsung are aware of the 'embarassing' problem....
