Netbook won't stay connected to the internet
Hi
My son and daughter both have MSI Wind Netbooks. They both have wireless capability and have been working fine for the last 2 years. My daughter's laptop seems to have developed a problem with staying connected.
If I connect with the ethernet cable is stays connected and works fine, however when I disconnect the cable and rely solely on wireless there is a problem. The netbook states that it is still connected to our network and has a strong signal, however when I try to load the internet it times out and says that it cannot connect to the server.
My son's laptop is the same and doesn't have this problem. We are unable to use my daughter's netbook as it cannot hold a connection for more than about 10 seconds.
Any ideas?

if its able to stay connected to the network (which would be your LAN Network, not the internet), but unable to access outside the house to the internet via the Wireless, I'd suspect something is up with your Router or Modem that you use for your Wireless connection to the outside world.

Well Shy, he said the other netbook still works wirelessly so it can't be the router or modem it must be the netbook.
I'd try reinstalling the WIFI driver in the netbook.Last edited by Taxmancometh; April 10th, 2012 at 04:54 PM.

Workaround
I have the same issue. It seems that the computer is shutting off the wireless adaptor when not in use as a power saving tactic. It will download a webpage fully and then switch off and not switch back on again when you click a link. I have not found a way to fix this (I've tried reinstalling the driver, resetting the power options, and resetting the options on the wireless adaptor). I have, however, figured out a way (a stupid way) to keep it from turning off. It won't turn off if it's in use, so I set it to streaming internet radio with the sound off and open another tab to do my browsing. It is completely moronic that I have to do this, but it's only until my new ultrabook is delivered and then I can throw this thing against a wall.
