Windows media player and winamp dont respond after windows update restart
I was just listening to winamp when windows update asked for restart after finishing updates. So i restart, i think when i logged onto user i took longer than usual to show desktop but i could be wrong, but the real problem is that my winamp and windows media player now wont work. Winamp takes forever to load and when it does it says not responding right away. windows media player start up fast as usual but then crashes and stop responding. please help i need to listen to music.
Thanks

Have you tried reinstalling WinAmp?
I am not sure how a Windows Update would break those unless it messed with some CODECs, but who knows?

The problem is Winblows updates. I never download them and I'm fine. I use Avira and Comodo firewall...THAT'S IT!
In the mean time I would try to reinstall Winamp and WMP.

Just installed the latest updates for W7 and didn't notice any issues or anything that should affect Media play. You might want to check the updates installed and the KB articles to see what they are related to. Could just be one specific update didn't get installed right or something.

Uninstall the updates! Then reinstall without listening to music.

i hope i got your solution.
try un-installing and reinstalling winamp if it doesn't work look up for codec solutions,
if you are very despered, you can listen to music by itunes, downloadable in mp3 format at "video2mp3.net" 100% download. save the download in a folder of your choice, you can make one if u want to. but if u want to use winamp i recommend looking on google for "winamp codec problems",
if it doesn't play songs, try re-downloading the songs.
hope this helped you on some way, GoodBye.

Wow, i think i found the real problem. I just realized that the update did something to my C: drive (which in my computers case is the D: drive secondary drive, in which i use as spare space). When i went to my computer it said that it is not formatted. which it has been working before the update restart just fine. what happens if i formatted it. wont it erase all my stuff. please help thanks.

That ain't right...there might be something else going on but Windows updates should in no way mess with drive settings. Do you have system restore turned on? Call you roll back to a previous state?

No, it should just revert to the way thing were working before the install of the updates.

Would it erase all my files if i formatted the C: drive (which is my D: drive)?

Then wait till the list is populated. Windows is sucky for that. If you want a quicker way of gaining access to add/remove I suggest downloading Ccleaner. CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
