honestly I don't think the 7800GTX would be bottlenecked on that CPU. If it were a first gen 8800GTS maybe, but that card was about 2 or 3 times more powerful at least than the 7800GTX as well.
Why do you think the card is being bottlenecked?i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Coming from a guy who had a near identical setup (x2 4200+ overclocked to 2.5ghz) and a ati x1950pro, no, you are definitely not bottlenecking that card.
Now throw in a gtx550ti like I did for a bit, and yes you will see a huge bottleneck.Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit
File Server: AMD Opteron 180 / 3gb DDR400 / Nvidia 6200 / WinXP Home 32bit / Lubuntu 12.10
Laptop: HP-Compaq nc8430/ Intel CoreDuo T2400 / 2gb DDR2 667/ Ati x1600 / WinXP Pro 32bit

yeah, I had an older Socket 939 Athlon 64 X2 that ran at 2.2GHz stock, and ran a Geforce 7800GT for well over a year, in fact tried to run 2 in SLI, though never got SLI to work at the time.
But my X2 never even came close to bottlenecking the 7800GT, and the GTX wasn't That much more powerful than the 7800GT.
Hell, if I had my current 939 setup running right now, I could test a 7800GTX, since I have one that came with that system. Though that system has an Opteron 165, that can be OC'd to well over 2.5GHz as it is, but if it was running I could test and see if there is any difference going from say 2.8Ghz down to 2.4Ghz and see what frame rates and benches would show for GPU performance.
But after my 1st A64 X2 system, I ran a Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz Dual core system, and a Geforce 8800GTS 320MB card, and that setup had a slight Bottleneck on the GPU. But I remember back then a single 320MB GTS matched or outperformed a Quad SLI Geforce 7950GX2 setup in some gaming tests, which just went to show how much more powerful the new 8 series was, with its new programmable shader architecture, and significant increase in shader cores.
Anyways, its a moot point since I have neither one of those systems anymore, and my 939 Opty 165 system is boxed up right now.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

why? why can't the disease be too much fat in the body. Just like too much thyroid hormone, or too little. The cure may be to eat less but I am not sure I see why it is excluded from disease. ...
Obesity is officially a disease.
