    hard to type keyboard

Glad I found this site. I haave a typing problem. I aam the worst typist evser. The problem is that I keep typing the wrong keys and they are so sensitive that I keep typing double letters, wrong letters and unwanted symbols. I am wondering if a keyboard with stiffer keys would help this problem. My current keyboard properties are set to longest delay and slowest repeat rate. My typing is not too bad while I am asking this question. This is highly unusual. Normally I spend haldf my time fixing such errors. Is there such a keyboard I can try? I don't mlind buyilng a new one. Thanks, Richard

A good way to improve your typing skills aside from a new keyboard or such is by using typingtest.com. Over time, it could make typing much easier for you. Plus, it's free.

I have an SHG keyboard I got at a computer store. It felt a little better than the others I tried.

As for typingtest.com my impression is that my typing was always bad but it has been deteriorating the last few years. Must be old age.

I have some funny stories about typing class in high school back it the dark ages (50's). Only guy in a room full of aspiring secretaries

Its like the keys are too sensitive for my fingers so I keep making double, triple letters. Also it contributes to the "extra" letters and symbols I add to words. That is why I think I need a keyboard whose keys take more pressure to activate. I don't do a lot of typing so It won't bother me to press a little harder. I will take a look at typingtest.com to see if it helps.

    Thanks for your thoughts,
    Richard

This is actually a pretty good point, and is probably a better solution than my previous one.

Thanks for the advice, guys. You have helped me to think through this problem.

As I said I have been touch typing since high school, but not great. It's just that my typing has deteriorated.

What seems to help me, I see, is typing slowly, preferably with eyes on the keyboard. All I have to do is make that a habit.
