Xp won't install Java from Java site
My daughters, mother in-law, is trying to install Java, for Internet games, and XP says the file is corrupt.
Any ideas, or is this something isolated, to her.
It is a farly new install, but she always has 100s of viruses, and malware, when I work on her computer.
The last time I worked on it, she had about every Internet game available installed.

Sounds like the computer needs a good cleaning.

I was hoping they didn't crap it up, in 4 weeks, but you are probably right.
I also can't figure out why they need Java now, as they have been playing those silly games, all along.

Well some games work on flash and some games require java i think.. correct me if i'm wrong, so i think she might have been playing flash games all the time, did you try uninstalling the java and downloading on a seperate computer and install it yourself?

That could be.
I usually just do a clean install, for them, but I'll try a down load on another computer, for science.
I don't have the computer in hand yet, I just received their Grandmothers computer, so I have to clean that out first.
I have 3 computers, I rotate, for the 2 of them.
It usually takes longer for them to crap them up, though.
Edit
I know Java has a bad security rep now, but don't know much about it.
I was thinking a corrupt Java, preventing real Java fro installing.
Just wild speculation.Last edited by stroyal; June 25th, 2012 at 08:54 AM.

Well java does have a bad security reputation, too many leaks as i heard so, but then again most games have malware/spywares on thier sites too. so i recommend a fresh install of an OS, but you could try un-installing the java and re-installing it again. ie if you download the java setup file from thier site and not the web-installer.

I'll probably do a clean install, because like you say, those games are loaded.
They load up dozens of those game, and don't even use half of them.
Their computers are usually so crapped up, that it is not worth the time to try to fix them.
Thanks

I spent some time on Das Island, not too far south of you.
Small world.

Didn't like Transformers growing up. I was more into Speed Racer and DBZ.
