Dell Latitude D610 - unsure of power, memory, motherboard or connection problem
My Latitude D610 screen suddenly goes blank with power still on. I switch it off. Start it up. Sometimes it stays on with no further problem. Sometimes error messages appear and I've to switch it off.
Now when I turn it on, the power goes on and does NOT boot on to BIOS. It either powers off or stays on idle itself. Is it a power, memory, motherboard or connection problem?
Your answer is much appreciated. Thanks.

the symptoms you are describing is most likely going to be your motherboard. judging by the age of your machine your motherboard has integrated graphics and has basically reached the end of its life, there are things that you can do to troubleshoot which of the components is actually causing the issue.
when you are actually able to boot the machine up with the screen normal try booting into safe mode and see if the problem persists while you are insafe mode for a good amount of time. if not try reinstalling your O/Sbut making sure to back up all your data before you do. if it does occur while insafe mode with the screen going white and everything then most likely its a hdw issue and being as its an older machine you will have a very tough time trying to find components for your specific machine but if your are able to, try to use only one RAM chip at a time in your PC and see if that fixes it. if one chips works and one chip does not then most likely the RAM chip that did not work is bad and needs to be replaced. but if nothing works then your most likely needing to replace the motherboard and that can get real pricy especially for an older machine.
hope this helps good luck
