546s Inspiron Dell power button wont turn on machine
I have the above model computer. I press the power button and nothing comes on. This was after a storm and yes it was in a surge protector but was pluggin in on an outside wall.
I unplugged it and plugged the system in a different wall/ outlet. The green light on the back comes on but the power button will not turn system on. Also the light is on in the back where the ethernet cable is plugged in.
What could be a the problem. Just a button that needs replaced or the power supply box on the inside. Or worse?

Since the problem started after a storm - the issue could be any number of things.
I would suspect a fried psu before I would the power button. Then again - the short could be in the mobo or almost any other part... You'll have to replace things till you find the culprit.
Side note - it's always been my understanding that a typical surge protector can only protect you ONE time. So, it could have used up it's "one time" a long time ago. Getting a UPS is something to consider in the future.Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...
