    How to make Laptop louder?

My Laptop is loud enough. Many times in VLC the Volume is turned above 100%, sometimes up to 200%. The speakers can handle it, and if the sound starts to distort, the volume is turned down.

This has something to do with the videos and music clips, that come along with different loudness, so it must be adjusted in VLC.

The problem is that many Internet streams are the same, either too loud, which causes no problem obviosly, or nearly unhearable on 100% volume.

Is there a tool that turns the overall volume up and down, in addition to the windows volume control.

    btw. I have good Earplugs.

I couldn't watch movies on my eMachines laptop because the sound was so low.
    Bought this:
    Laptop Speaker Z205

and it works great... good stereo sound and plenty of volume.

The sound is alright, if the problem would be solved.

As it sounds like this is just specific videos you are talking about then its likely an issue with the video itself and most likely not anything you can do. Just in-case you can check the volume controls and make sure you have those balanced. If your general controls are set too low then boosting the volume in WMP or VLC will remain too low.

You might also want to check your options and settings. I know WMP has volume leveling

VLC was the problem for me. Or DVD's in general really. I could listen to mp3's or youtube videos with no problem, but DVD's, even maxed out were barely audible. Using the external clip on speakers leveled it all out.

General Volume is at 100%. Boosting in VLC makes the sound loud enough, works for everything.

But not for streams! So is there a tool that does what VLC is doing, but generally?

I don't think so, not without actually downloading the videos and editing them. Are these flash videos streaming through the browser, AVI/MP4 videos streaming directly to VLC or what?

If you can run videos/mp3's directly from the laptop and the sound is fine then its a settings issue with however it is being streamed, or possibly the source/site. If you have to "boost" volumes on all videos/music then you might be having another issue.

Have you tried a different set of headphones or speaker? Is there a volume control on the headphones?

Right click on the speaker Icon go to playback devices/right click speaker/properties/advanced/enhancements then check loudness equalization.
This should make the sound level the same in all programs,Hope this helps.
