    Red face Drive problem

     
    DVD Drive lost the ide in the properties box, and cannot find the drive. I cannot type the correct information back into the box. I can type other places But not in that box. Is There A way?

    Question lost driver ide

    General properties has no ide in box system can't id the DVD driver. Box Will not let me type in code ie-HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8162B. Is There a way to put this back in that box? I even updated the driver which did not a thing. My system is Windows xp.

    please do not create multiple threads.

    For starters you aren't giving much information here and what you have given is a bit confusing. Perhaps members could help if you gave them more to go on.

    Hey Richard,

    Maybe you can screen shot what you're having a problem with and we can take it from there? Tap print screen, control+v to mspaint and attach the image to the thread.

    What I think you mean (and let me know if I understand you correctly), you have a DVD drive but it isn't showing up in My Computer? Did you check the device manager to see if there's a warning indicator by the icon for it?

    When you say it won't let you type, I don't understand what you mean.

    I think he's talking about trying to put in the Drives Details or Model or something, into one of the boxes in its Properties that normally would show the drives Details and info.

    If this happened after inserting a faulty cd\dvd then letting it struggle for a long time , the , then a shut down and restart can solve the problem providing that you eject the faulty cd\dvd ...
    In the worst case , it could be a faulty DVD need to be replaced ..
