    I need assistance please!

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC laptop.
One day it was working and the next day, nothing. The screen is completely blank. Not even a cursor.
    I know very little about
computers so I'm not sure what to do. What would make
it act like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Does it turn on at all? Do you getting the windows boot screen at all? Can you hear the fans spin up when you press the button? What is the exact model of this laptop?

V Hi GroundZero, I didn't except an answer so fast. Yes it does turn on and I can hear the fans
Running but that's about it. As far as what screen it's on I have no idea
because it's blank. It's almost like I can see a light on inside but the screen itself
is blank. As far as the model I can only tell you it's an HP PAVILION Media smart notebook
with duo processor and 320gb HD. I can get more info if you need it. Thank you so much for
    responding! Terri

PS. The book says HP PAVILION dv4-1540us. Does that help any?

Do you have an external monitor you could test it with?

No Whir, I don't have an external monitor but I think I may have fixed it for now....

OK, after I read the article penned by GroundZero3, "New Members Read This First Before Posting", well, that may not be the exact title so it probably shouldn't be in quotation marks, but anyway....after thinking "I really wish I had seen this before and read it first" I then thought, "UH, I probably should have gone to HP customer care." So with that head slapping realization off I went.

5 minutes and a hard reset later my computer is working again.

Disconnect all peripheral devices: USB devices, media cards, etc.
Disconnect AC power adapter and remove battery.
Press and hold power button for about 30 seconds.
Reconnect AC power adapter but don't reattach battery.
    Press power button.

With that my computer seems to be working for now. Still not sure what the problem was though. Thank you GroundZero for your guidance and to Whir and GroundZero for your responses!

You guys do an awesome job on here!!

PS I'm replying on my computer this time instead of my phone.....YAY!!!!

Great news! And thank you for posting "The end of the story".. we hate to be left hanging wondering... "Did that ever get fixed?"
