ASUS HD 6450 Silent, Bsod :(
Hey guys, ive had a few years computing experience but im really stuck with this problem, any help would be awesome

I recently bought the ASUS HD 6450 silent graphics card, put it in my motherboard no problems, fits perfect... i turn my computer on and about a minute after boot i get bsod (Blue screen of death).
The driver i installed for this card is the latest version but i see an error with it in device manager "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)" so this could be the problem? Or the power supply i have isnt enough? Maybe even something simple like a BIOS setting?
Specs :
OS - Windows XP, Service pack 3 (getting 7 ultimate 64bit soon)
Motherboard - ASRock G31M - S
PSU - ATX-300GTF (I Think 300W)
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E1500 @ 2.20GHz
1.99 GB Of Ram
Ask for any more info you need to solve this problem and ill post it up no worries. And yh, i know my pc is proper shit :P

Thanks, i looked into wiring up 2 PSU's to one comp but looks too complicated for me.
Is it worth even attempting to see if my other PSU (ATX - 450) will work? or should i not waste my time and just buy a new one?.... i suppose it can't hurt to try lol
Edit: Well i tried and failed, the long square connector from PSU to Motherboard didn't fit (ive got no idea what it's called lol)... im guessing there's no way round this... ill just buy another PSU, but when i do, how can i check it will fit my motherboard ect?
Cheers

make sure you buy a QUALITY brand name unit though, weed out the possibility of buying a crap unit.

Thanks for the tip Shyguy, i normally do my research before purchasing anything, too bad i missed the power needs of this card.... a new PSU should solve my bsod issue, and if it dosent, i have no clue what to do lol
Think im gona get this - Amazon.co.uk: Customer Reviews: ACE 750W BR PSU with 12cm Red Fan and PFC - Black It should be enough, and at an amazing price.
I just hope it will have the right connectors ect otherwise ill be sending it back.
My motherboard -
24 pin ATX power connector
- 4 pin 12V power connector
PSU -
1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
1 x 12V(4+4Pin)
Would this fit? You guys know alot more than me, and im an idiot in this area
Im looking to spend no more than Ł40 on a new PSU, this being my 1st time replacing one i have no experience on what to look for... open to any suggestions.
Thanks!Last edited by kennerley; August 18th, 2012 at 06:21 PM. Reason: Link Edit

wheres that facepalm pic again?
anyways, that PSU is a Piece of sh*t. Comes out to $21 USD, 750W? I don't think so.
any GOOD 750W PSU is going to be around $75 USD or more at the very least.
This is a prime example of some of what JP Miller was discussing in his PSU thread I linked above.
High Wattage, ultra low pricing, means shit garbage PSU, plain and simple.
as to no experience what to look for, read the thread I posted above.
----> Antec High Current Gamer 400W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply [0761345-23840-3]
Great Deal.
otherwise, Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply (CMPSU-430CXUKV2) [CMPSU-430CXV2UK]
either of those, problem solved.
Both good top quality units.
the Antec has a higher +12V Rail, 2 Amps more than the Corsair, and more suited for modern systems, since most hardware uses the +12V rail on PSU's. Otherwise their both fine. Both brands units are made by Seasonic, which is the top of the top for brands.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

oh, and the 20+4 pin connector is the same as a 24 pin, its just made for Motherboards that only have a 20 pin, so you can use the extra 4 or not.
the 4+4 is for motherboards with a 4 pin, or 8 pin Aux Power connector, if you only have 4 pin, then only use the main 4 pin part. the plugs are keyed so you'll need to look at the hole shapes and match them to the 4 pin part that matches, thats the one you use.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Can't thank you enough!
I kinda guessed with the pins, it's good to know it's not as complicated as it looks, the chances of a modern PSU not fitting seem slim now, im just unlucky my ATX - 450 from an older comp dosen't fit the comp im using now lol

I attempted my other PSU (ATX - 450) again and have successfully connected it...
Unfortunately with the graphics card in i still got bsod, at the same time as with my other PSU, i now belive this to be a driver error.
In device manager i have this error with "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" - "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)"... and it's under "Other Devices"
I have no clue whats ment to be what here, and no idea how to fix it :/
Dont know if this is usefull...
