Upgrading iMedia S2870
Hi my mates just bought a Packard Bell iMedia S2870 and was hoping it was ok to run Battlefield3 as he wanted to get away from console gaming and into PC gaming , he found that it wouldnt run and when it did it was very jumpy with the graphics.
We have looked at the specs and im not exactly advanced in computers but the only thing i can see letting him down is the graphics card, The iMedia has a intergrated graphics card and i was wondering what graphics card i should recomend to him and if it is possible to put a plug in graphics card into his computer, I have 4 vague pictures of the inside , any help is welcome
Greg

Do you have a link that might show the product specs? This isn't a US model so its hard for most of us to verify the details.
Does this look like the one you have
iMedia S2870
If that is it then you are going to have a real hard time running BF3 even if you had a better card. The CPU itself isn't even close to something you want to run BF3 Then factor in the size of the case and the low wattage on the power supply and you'll have a tough time finding a card that would be sufficient to play almost any newer game.

Best card you're going to really be able to slap in is a low profile 6670, but for long term use that will require a better psu. All in all, that will be a 'good' very low end pc for BF3, but don't expect it to play great online with that dual core.
At this point, anything is better than onboard, but to be honest, you are paying a premium for low end parts due to the type of pc case and weak power supply.Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit
File Server: AMD Opteron 180 / 3gb DDR400 / Nvidia 6200 / WinXP Home 32bit / Lubuntu 12.10

If they can find one of these:
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100357LP Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card
Newegg.com - VisionTek 900549 Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Whether their in the US, Canada, or UK (guessing the latter, as thats where most of these users with Packard Bells are from now days),
But one of those would be their best bets, its more powerful than the 6670, single slot, low profile, and only uses about 55-60W of Power. (5 Amps on the +12V Rail, not including what the rest of the system needs).i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

yeah, I'd been waiting for the LP models of these for a while as well.... mainly Mini ITX hardware. But ever since the cards came out and was reported with a 55W power consumption, as well as cool running as heck, I'd assumed there would be some single slot LP models.
hell, it would be neat if someone could make a Mini DTX mobo (like what is in this Packard Bell in this thread) with Dual PCIe x16 Slots for Crossfire with a pair of those, THAT would be a sweet little rig, since these cards pack the performance of a Radeon 4870 in that little package, you'd be able to get probably Geforce GTX 470 performance or close to it easily, all while consuming half as much power as the 470 has.
But I'm dreaming again LOL, even still, would be nice to pack one of those cards in with a Mini ITX rig and a decent CPU, for a small nearly "hand held" gaming rig.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green
