Unhappy usb device can perform faster if conected to usb 2.0 port.

I am using an assembled computer which was working fine till last weak , last weak when i pluged in my usb falsh drive a pop up appeared saying device ca perform faster if connected to usb 2.0 port,
and hence the speed of read write of usb declined significantly.

I am quiet sure all my ports and devices are usb 2.0, as they were working fine till last weak .
Tried updating drivers it shows" driver up to date" .
uninstalled an installed them again still no improvement.

    please help me..........

How old is the flash drive?
Do you have another PC to test it on?

its not the problem with a single flash drive it shows same message for every usb memory device plugged in..
and all those devices work fine on other systems i have checked that already...
so i guess its not the problem with the flash drive.....

If you see "enhanced" controller" in device manager under USB devices then you have USB 2.0.

You have to get the drivers from the who ever made the mobo... If the pc is a Dell or HP type pc you'd get the drivers from them.

thanks a lot steve for your help one last question to bother you.......

as you told me i tried to update my drivers using "easy drive " software as my computer is an assembled one...
it did showed enhanced usb 2.0 usb host controller outdated but when i tried to update it it showed me "device unplugged" and i am not sure what does that mean as i had already plugged my usb flash drive.......

also tried doing same using other softwares they also showed same message "device unplugged..............????????

I've never seen that message - but if you'll Google-> device unplugged

You'll find plenty to read and probably find a solution.
