| How To Boot On Just Built PC
Ok, this is the first comp that I scratch built. It boots and gets and I can enter into BIOS. Now this is what I don't understand. How do I get it to load the windows 98 CD. If that isn't possible what can I do to load windows.
Thanks

Have you partitioned and formated your hard drive? When you boot do you get the C:\ prompt?
If so you have 2 choices:
1) Boot with a Win98 boot disk and choose CD support when prompted.
2) Go back into your Bios and set your computer to boot from CD as one of the choices. (That's if you have a install CD that you can boot from)

you will have to have abootable disk.
most win98 cds are bootable. but if your motherboard doesn't support booting from cd you will need a bootdisk with cdrom support
go to www.bootdisk.com and get a winme boot disk or win98 boot disk |

You need to boot from a floppy disk (windows startup disk), it should load the CD drivers (it will give you an option menu) .. then you can access your win98 CD to install it ..
You can get win98 boot disk from here ..

Well, I guess the guys above are all assuming that you knew how to configure your CMOS...
Chances are that if the system is new, it'll allow you to boot from the CD drive. Make sure that the CD drive is one of the boot-up devices in your CMOS config (true by default in most cases). If you need help with other stuff, then just ask.

And Welcome to TechIMO, agentb159! If you don't understand anything these geeks are saying, just ask!
