GA 7DX ver 2.2 (first build)

Hello folks:
I have been piecing together my first pc build for a small eternity.

Mobo: GA-7DX (No onboard sound or video)
CPU: AMD 1.0 Ghz 200 FSB
Thus far I get a repeating LONG beep.

I have a decent video card and the rest but just want the thang to POST before I do anything else.

Anybody know the correct procedure to build a pc from absolute scratch?

Well it could be because you don't have the Video card in, or because your RAM isn't seated right. You will have to check Gigabyte's website for the Beep Codes

Thanks for the quick response.
Small correction, I'm using> - CPU: Athlon Tbird 1.2 Ghz, 200 Mhz FSB
I found some documentation saying this mobo can only handle 200 FSB, thus the chip. (I actually started with a xp 1800 266 FSB)
Now, do you think the same must apply for my RAM?
Because I've already got 256 MB PC2100 266 MHZ in there.

CHAINTECH GFORCE MX400 64MB VIDEO CARD (seated properly)
Monitor attached to that.
Keyboard plugged in.

I'm also finding Gigabyte doesn't respond to the "little-guy".

Could the mobo itself be bogus? No LEDS lit, but that beep code.
Soon shopping for another Mobo or two since I now have 4 Cpu's to build around.

The GA-7DX uses Award BIOS. Award BIOS does not have any beep codes except for failed video, which is one long beep followed by two short beeps. If you're not hearing two short beeps, then it probably means that it's a random beep code. Random beep codes indicate a problem with the RAM.

I removed my 256 MB PC2100 266 MHZ and tried it with no ram and same beep code, repeated long.
Will pick up some ram at 200 MHZ and see what happens.
