| No Sound what so ever....help needed..
Well, Im still not getting any sound out of my bosses system. I would try moving the sound card down a pci slot but I dont think that would help becuase even as I switch drivers to the mother board I dont hear a thing. Thats right the mother board sound doesnt even work.
Epox 8Kha+ amd 1700
Soundblaster Live
Asus Geforce 2 V7700Ti
I guess my question right now is, could the video card be casuing the problems w/ no sound? My boss booted is puter up today and got a funky error. One leading to this page... http://oca.microsoft.com/en/Response.asp?SID=35
Please any suggestions are helpful. |

Not taking the p!ss,
But you have checked all the cables? they are the weakest link?
Bring new cables and speaker/sound unit upto that pc and try.
If all the drivers are loaded, and sound card is still not working, maybe, if you have the facility, change the sound card with one thats working in a similiar pc. Or vise versa.
If not email me.
Hope this helps, Justy. |

ahh, yes...that error...I troubleshooted a fellow who kept getting that error. Just make sure the drivers for the video card are certified by Microsoft. Another thing that could be causing that error is that the video card is trying to pull too much power. List the power supply's voltage numbers (should be on one of the sides), and we can tell you if it could be the culprit.
If you have Win2k or WinXP, remove all of the legacy sound drivers, and remove the SoundBlaster card. Then reboot into the BIOS and disable the onboard sound. Win2k & WinXP will still reload legacy sound drivers for the onboard sound. Wierd, but it works...it's how I'm running right now as a matter of fact...
Other than that, just be sure to check the little things that we all forget sometimes...make sure the sound isn't muted in windows volume control, the speakers have power, etc. Run windows update and make sure to get the VIA 4in1 drivers, or get them directly from VIA's website.

I know not how to explain my communications with the silicon life force. I merely touch the system, and it will tell me what is wrong, and I will remedy my child. After which, all my children can play in harmony.
So without physical contact, I can not heal your child.
(I could NEVER do in-direct tech support...never! They would fire me so!) |
